Cruzanvibes Band

The story of Cruzanvibes Band is a rich and heartfelt journey filled with family, passion for music, and resilience. George Antoine Jr., also known as "Cruzanvibes George," has a deep connection to his roots in St. Croix and a strong musical lineage within his family.

Growing up in St. Croix, George was immersed in a musical environment, thanks to his mother's early involvement in playing the piano in church and his family's musical background in Antigua. George himself explored various instruments, including the piano, guitar, and saxophone, eventually playing the saxophone for the St. Croix Majorettes marching band.

After relocating to Fort Myers, Florida, George became involved with his father's band, initially called the "Southwest Florida Steeldrum Band" and later forming the "Caribbean Stars." The family's commitment to music continued, with George Sr. teaching his younger children how to play the steeldrum.

A significant turning point occurred in 1991 when George Sr. faced a life-altering accident, leading George Jr. to pick up the electric bass guitar and continue his musical journey. The family adapted and formed the "Island Sound Reggae Steeldrum Band," demonstrating their resilience in the face of adversity.

Following Hurricane Charlie in 2004, George Jr. took a break from the music scene, focusing on his career as a certified crane operator. However, love and encouragement from his wife, Lorna, reignited his passion for music, leading to the birth of "Cruzanvibes."

With the support of his father, George Sr., Cruzanvibes became a reality, and they continued to share their music. Even after George Sr.'s official retirement in 2010, George Jr. carried on the legacy, performing solos and even traveling to various places for events.

The passing of George Sr. in May 2013 marked a poignant moment in the band's history, but George Jr. continued to honor his father's legacy by performing and sharing his love for music. The diverse locations where Cruzanvibes has performed, including New York, Georgia, Lake Ozarks in Missouri, Antigua on a yacht, and Jamaica for a birthday party, showcase the widespread appreciation for their unique sound.

Overall, the story of Cruzanvibes Band is not just about music but a testament to the enduring power of family, passion, and the ability to overcome challenges in pursuit of one's dreams.

I am so happy that you played at our wedding. Lorna makes you feel comfortable and at ease from the moment you speak to her. Communication was great and never had an issue. The steel drums were perfect for our beach wedding. The music just set everything off and our guests enjoyed it. You both are a great team and a pleasure to work with. I hope to do business with you again! :) Your friends, Mr. and Mrs. Rangel
